According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Robinson departed around 7:30 p.m. from Bartow Executive Airport in a single-seat experimental aircraft. At approximately the same time, a fellow pilot departed from Lakeland Linder International Airport as part of a planned formation flight, with the two aircraft expected to meet north of Lakeland.

Shortly before 8:00 p.m., emergency dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a downed aircraft. First responders were quickly deployed and located the wreckage in a remote wooded pasture west of Moore Road. Authorities confirmed that Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators reported that another pilot in the vicinity witnessed a portion of the aircraft separate mid-flight before the plane rapidly descended and impacted the ground. The witness immediately relayed coordinates to emergency services, allowing responders to reach the crash site within minutes.
