SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Springfield police have released the identities of individuals connected to the Lake Springfield incident on Sunday, June 14, identifying 19-year-old Andrea Stawny, 17-year-old Sofie Stawny, 40-year-old Taylor Stawny, and 12-year-old Aurelie Stawny as part of an ongoing investigation involving water rescue and recovery operations.

Authorities confirmed that Andrea Stawny, 19, and Sofie Stawny, 17, were recovered following extensive search efforts in and around the dam area. Andrea was located approximately a quarter-mile downstream, while Sofie was recovered near the dam after continued coordinated operations involving multiple agencies.

Officials stated that 40-year-old Taylor Stawny remains missing as search-and-rescue efforts continue. Approximately 40 personnel from multiple agencies are involved in the operation, including shoreline teams, dive units, and aerial support. Crews are continuing to search surrounding waterways in an effort to locate him.

Twelve-year-old Aurelie Stawny was rescued from spillway waters shortly after the incident occurred on Sunday and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. She has since been released, according to officials. Next of kin have been notified regarding all confirmed developments.

Investigators said all four individuals were together on the water at the time of the incident, traveling in a kayak and connected inflatable tubes. This detail remains part of the ongoing investigation as authorities work to determine the full sequence of events leading up to the emergency.

Multiple agencies, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol dive team, Springfield Fire Department, and Springfield Police drone units, have been assisting with search and recovery operations using sonar equipment, aerial surveillance, and shoreline searches.
