Lake City Man Killed in Tragic Missaukee County Farm Accident After Being Pulled Into Hay Baler

MISSAUKEE COUNTY, Michigan — Family members, friends, and residents of the Lake City community are mourning the tragic loss of a 59-year-old man who died following a farming accident in northern Michigan. The incident, which occurred while the victim was performing agricultural work, has left the community grieving and serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers associated with operating heavy farm equipment.

According to the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to reports of a serious agricultural accident shortly after 4:53 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. The incident occurred at a farm located along the 2000 block of East Houghton Lake Road in Forest Township.

Preliminary findings from investigators indicate that the victim was working on a tractor when he reportedly fell and became entangled in a hay baler. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and immediately assessed the situation; however, the man succumbed to the severe injuries he sustained during the accident and was pronounced deceased.
